International Services Association  ~  INSA-India

Who we are

Established in 1982 with support from Global Health Action, USA, the International Services Association  is committed to the vision of ‘A Just Society living with Health and Development’. As a trainer organization, INSA-India offers training opportunities for all levels of staff working in registered organizations addressing community health and development issues to reach the Millennium Development Goals. INSA-India is one of the lead organizations in pioneering work for HIV and AIDS prevention, care and support programs that include  HIV mainstreaming, children at risk, gender, sexuality and rights programs in India.

As a result of INSA-India’s  training  and unique individual follow-up services at the site of the participants, successful health and development programs which are culturally appropriate and cost effective have been established in remote and rural as well as  urban areas of India, Nepal and Bangladesh.

What we believe

  • Health is a basic right of every human being. Integrating genders and educating men and women, especially of their sexual reproductive rights is essential for happy and healthy families. Adolescents are the future of any society but emotionally vulnerable. Therefore, empowering youth with life skills  to claim their rights and be  partners in addressing health and development issues will equip the nation for a better tomorrow.
  • Basic awareness is NOT enough. Appropriate and proactive awareness towards transformation  and regular follow-up are integral to training in health and development programs.

What our programs do

  • Suit the needs of communities  and trainees/participants
  • Build on adult learning principles and follow experiential learning cycle
  • Support and mentor with follow-up services through visits, workshops and newsletters
  • Subsidise heavily to reach out to a wider group of organizations for staff development
  • Encourage team building  within program  development
  • Demystify existing myths through advocacy to enable behaviour change
  • Enable to build lead organizations at regional levels.
